Introduction
At some points in life, our situations do not exactly depict or reflect what we desire our lives to be. We maintain expectations and aspirations that do not materialize in time. We set goals that sometimes go unfulfilled. We have dreams that seem to take too long to be realized. We imagine where we want to be at certain points in our lives, but most of the time, they never turn out that way. For example, we may wonder when we are going to settle that loan or mortgage so we can become debt-free and make other investments. Others may desire marriage, the next promotion in our careers, or a significant spiritual breakthrough in our lives. However, many times these yearnings remain unmet, leaving us unsatisfied. Life can make it feel like we have stagnated or, even worse, regressed.
Such situations can leave us in a desperate and deplorable state. At times, it may feel like we are trapped in a perpetual cycle of recurring patterns of poverty, stagnation, hopelessness, loneliness, and losses. In other words, last year looks the same as this year, and this year resembles the past two or four years. We find ourselves wondering: when will this cycle end? When will we advance in this journey of life?
The greatest tragedy of this dilemma is that we often focus so much on what we see rather than what God speaks to our spirit or inner man. The voice of this world is so loud that it drowns out the gentle whispers of God. Many people are confident they have heard the voice of God and received prophecies about what He intends to do in their lives. Yet, it seems to take too long, and the circumstances of our present situations rarely align with what we claim to have heard from God.
The key to moving forward lies in listening to our spirit. God is spirit, and He whispers to our spirits, reassuring us of what is to come in specific seasons and moments of life. He empowers us to speak into our future and take dominion over the days ahead. Be moved by what you hear in your spirit, not by what you see. Speak boldly what you hear in your spirit to breathe life into your destiny.
When we speak life, we release the breath of God into every situation that is dying. Words of revelation shatter every adversity, and the heavens testify on our behalf.
The power is in the words you speak, declare, and proclaim amid every adversity. You are God’s breath of life, capable of speaking life into everything that is dying in your life.
We Live by Faith and Not by Sight
Regardless of what we see in our physical realm, we should never be discouraged. Faith is the currency and mode of transaction in the spiritual realm. We approach God by faith, knowing that it is impossible to please Him without faith; and as we seek Him, we must believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Key scriptures emphasize this:
- Hebrews 11:6: “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we live by faith, not by sight.”
- 2 Corinthians 4:18: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
These verses illustrate that the negative signs we see in our daily lives or the lack of progress may not necessarily depict the reality in the spiritual realm. Therefore, knowing that we have a God who has promised us a better future, we must not be focused on what we see with our physical sight.
If that partner is not forthcoming at the moment, if that promotion or business deal is not coming through, that does not mean God’s word is not standing. We need to maintain the faith that it will all come to pass. Do not be fazed by the unchanging times. Understand that the promise to your destiny or God’s word is the seed of greatness planted by God in your life. It is the faith that you have in God that will make this seed take root and manifest. The enemy and people may attempt to plant doubt, discouragement, deception, and fear to prevent this seed from growing. It is your walk of faith that will dispel all these things that hamper your destiny.
The Path of the Righteous Shines Brighter
God has set a principle for the righteous: their path should shine brighter.
- Proverbs 4:18: “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.”
This principle means that for those who walk rightly before God, their glory is designed to increase daily. Similarly, scripture reveals that;
- “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the Lord Almighty.” (Haggai 2:9)
As a result, God intends for us to grow from one level of glory to another without regression. These scriptures emphasize that righteousness guarantees our glory in this current dispensation.
Since we are the righteousness of God, we ought to live in much more glory compared to those who have gone before us. For instance, we are meant to succeed in areas where our parents could not. In our careers, we must excel in places where our bosses or employers have not ventured. Our marriages should be better, and our families must be more stable compared to the broken families that dictate the marriages of the day. We are destined for greater glory, and we must speak and declare this truth as communicated by the Holy Spirit.
Get Rid of All Negativity
God only speaks what is positive in our lives. The promises of this new covenant are better than those of the old covenant (Hebrews 8:6). In this dispensation, God never speaks negatively about anything concerning our lives because He desires us to progress in all aspects as scripture says in;
- Genesis 1:28: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion.”
Therefore, God is restoring us to the original image and giving us the original dominion that was given to Adam upon creation. As believers in this new covenant, we need to speak the same promises and restoration over our lives.
The enemy, however, crushes our spirit through negative situations and environments. For instance, surrounding ourselves with people who constantly talk us down or speak negatively can impact our perspective on life. Financial burdens and meeting increasing expenses can also be strenuous, causing worry. Anxieties about completing work or projects further crush our spirits. Negative reports and circumstances in our families create fear and discouragement.
Nonetheless, to align with what God speaks, we must eliminate all these negative influences in our daily lives. Do not let your mind dwell on worry or anxiety. Train your mind to meditate on positive things—these are the better promises of the new covenant.
- Philippians 4:8: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Focus your thoughts on what is pure, good, honest, lovely, and virtuous. This is the way to rid your life of negativity and stress.
Speak Life in Your Days
In place of negativity, we also need to speak life so that we can take dominion over what is rightfully ours in this world. Words are powerful because they are spirits and they carry life. As Jesus Christ revealed;
- John 6:63: “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”
It is the Spirit that quickens or gives life. And if we have the same Spirit, then we can speak life into every situation that is negative or dying in our lives. As God whispers every day through that still small voice, He constantly reminds us of the better things that are to come. When we speak His word into our circumstances and interactions, we release the same life from the Spirit. Through this process, we are encouraged, reenergized, revived, and renewed in all things. We maintain a stable and positive mindset toward everything.
As was the case with Ezekiel, God breathed into his nostrils, and he was able to speak to the dry bones. In turn, the bones, after receiving the breath of life, came to life (Ezekiel 37:3-10). The dry bones symbolize the areas in our lives that are dead or feel lifeless—such as careers, businesses, marriages, education, ministry, or investments. In this dispensation, we have the same breath of life within us that Ezekiel was given.
- Job 32:8: “But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty that gives them understanding.”
When we speak as we hear from our spirit, we speak life with understanding and enlightenment. Specifically, when we declare, “We will get married, we will get that job, our businesses are growing, we can do all things through Christ, we will experience the move of God in our generation,” we are not merely speaking. We are speaking life from a place of revelation, and the heavens testify on our behalf that it is done!
Such words of revelation shatter everything the enemy or life itself throws our way. It is only God who knows our thoughts and every word before we even speak them. The enemy, on the other hand, only knows what he hears from us. Therefore, we must be careful about every word that proceeds from our mouths. God has given us the words of life by His Spirit. We must speak life into every situation or circumstance we face. You are God’s breath of life, capable of speaking life into everything that is dying in your life. The power is in the words you speak, declare, and proclaim amid every adversity.
